I am a self taught Bolton artist and enjoy painting light, bright and colourful pieces on canvas, in acrylics and oils. I have also painted many watercolour paintings.
I enjoy woodland walks, close to my home, which is in a semi-rural area of Bolton, as well as walking on the beautiful island of Anglesey, North Wales. I like to take lots of photos on my walks to enable me to create my own compositions and I paint in both locations, sometimes plein air.
I joined the Bolton Art Circle in 2006 and have exhibited as part of the group at various venues, including the annual four day event, Bolton Festival. For several years I also exhibited at Art and Craft Fairs selling art cards and prints as well as original art.
My painting methods and techniques are influenced by many other artists, past and present, who, like me, paint into negative organic shapes, which is the reverse order of conventional painting techniques but creates a very painterly effect.
